The Middle Ages : the palace of Bishop Odo

The palace of Bishop Odo of Conteville houses the MAHB's medieval collections.

The ground floor of the former palace houses vestiges contemporary to Odo ofConteville, traditionally identified as the commissioner of the Bayeux Tapestry.

The Romanesque vaults from the 11th and 12th Centuries have been restored to accommodate the medieval collections : artefacts from necropolis of the High Medieval period, sculptures and art objects from between the 12th and 15th Centuries and Italian and Flemish primitives form a harmonious ensemble. Regional Flamboyant Gothic creations are placed in the context of European Art.
