On this symbolic date of 14 October 2025, we would like to provide an update on the project for the future Bayeux Tapestry Museum
Let’s first look back at a very busy September, as we had to vacate all the spaces occupied in the former Grand Séminaire before handing over an empty building to the companies responsible for its renovation.
The museum team dismantled all the scenography, reception and shop furniture, and moved the administrative department, which is now located in the town hall. We also implemented a circular economy approach to recover several items of furniture for use by other departments and stored equipment that will be reused in the new museum.
As part of this renovation project, it was essential to remove the Bayeux Tapestry from its display case, where it had been on display since 1983, in order to keep it safe during the work. An entire day was devoted to this task, from packing the work to storing it. This meticulous operation was carried out in close collaboration with the French government cultural departments that own the work.
We invite you to watch the video we made to capture this historic moment for both the Bayeux Tapestry and the 90 people who worked to its conservation that day.
